Erika Lauren, former cast
member of MTV’s The Real World D.C. and current WMMS "Alan
Cox Show" on-air, staffer has been labeled one of the most
emotional RW cast members to have ever appeared on the show, and
was praised and criticized by fans of the show alike, especially
as the weeks unraveled to the filming of her meltdown; where
she revealed to the world, that she struggled with depression
and ultimately left the show before the end of filming.
It all didnt sit too well with Erika as each week's new episode
aired and will never be more evidenced than lyrically within her
emotionally charged debut single "Damage", where she sings about how it felt to be watching herself while the show aired last season.
During Erika’s time on the show, she attempted to start
a band that never even really had a chance to form, raising a
lot of questions, about whether or not she would actually pursue
a music career. After the season aired, Erika was approached by
Crushtone Music and was paired with major label producer Jim Wirt,
who has worked with Hoobastank, Jack’s Mannequin, The Rocket
Summer, Trapt, Incubus and Fiona Apple, to name a few. “Working
with Jim Wirt was a real treat but almost intimidating at first.
As soon as we got to work though, everything fell into place.
Everyone was so supportive, Jim Wirt, his wife Claire, Randy Chase
and Tyler Owen (Owner of Closerlook Recording) and I cannot thank
them enough” says Erika.
The release of Erika’s two singles, entitled, Damage and
Can’t Miss You, set for release on November 2, 2010, will
be available on all major music retailer websites including, ITunes,
Amazon, Zune and Emusic. As mentioned, Erika is is also a radio
personality, on the hit radio show, The Alan Cox Show on 100.7
WMMS, from 3 to 7 PM every week day, in Cleveland, OH. |
